Exercising Freedoms
Because freedom of movement, health, breathe and strength all require exercise.
Freedom of Movement-
We know that if we don’t use it we will lose it.
This is true for mobility, flexibility and strength alike. Do you have movement built into your day?
Movement was fun as a kid and can be as an adult also. What sport and/or movement do you find enjoyable? Do that.
The key is to make it a part of your life. So make it fun.
Stretching in the evening is important to Jason and I as we grow older. We keep it short and simple and we are working at making it a daily habit. Rolling on a ball or roller and challenging each other keeps it more interesting.
I also like to run in the early morning when it is cool. It is a great way to start my day without effecting anyone else’s schedule. I have done less of this since my running buddies moved away and I have felt the effects of that. I have less energy and strength to cope with daily challenges when I haven’t gotten exercise, for sure.
I will dance around in the kitchen when I can’t get out. And good music and movement will put me in a less serious, more flexible mood.
Freedom of Health
I am responsible for my own health. No one else, not even my doctor.
These are 4 rules I try to live by:
Eat healthy, real foods.
Drink good water.
Stay away from sugar.
Stay away from chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Say no to shots.
What are yours?
Freedom of Breathe
I like to breathe good, clean air like most everyone. Here are the 4 things I practice to keep breathing well.
I am lucky to live in the country where there is lots of fresh air and I make sure I get outside every day. I love to walk barefoot in the grass fresh with morning dew. This can be more challenging in the city, I know.
I also open windows whenever possible to freshen the inside air.
I will diffuse lemon oil into the air for greater oxygen.
I keep plants in my home (great air cleaners and oxygenators)
I am practicing and learning deeper breathing. This is an exercise in remembering.
Freedom of Speaking out and Sharing
We all have our opinions.
And we all have the need to feel heard and valued. Sometimes it’s hard to listen to differing opinions though.
This is an ongoing practice and exercise for everyone. And we don’t always get it right so grace and space is needed in the process.
These are just a few of our personal freedoms. But each can make us more healthy the more they are exercised. Happy exercising all your freedoms!
