Calendula flowers useful benefits
For a long time I thought calendula flowers were only used for skin issues, rashes and such. I am slowly learning how many more uses there are! Here is a quick list of 8 for you:
- Soothe skin problems like rashes, including diaper rash, irritations, wounds, cold sores, herpes, chicken pox, burns and bites.
Besides skin issues:
3. Soothes muscle spasms, has a relaxing effect on smooth muscles. Can help ease abdominal cramping.
4. Helps with PMS, constipation and menstrual cramping because of it’s relaxing effect on smooth muscle tissues.
5. Helps heal hemorrhoids, ulcers and wounds. Topically applied it can increase blood and oxygen flow so it can speed healing. It is antimicrobial and antibacterial.
6. Lymphatic system and immune system stimulating. It can help fight infection by reducing congestion and swelling in the lymph glands.
7. Inhibits cancer – Calendula activates the lymphatic system to help fight off and kill cancer cells.
8. Liver and whole body detoxification. An internal tincture of calendula can help remove toxins and cleanse the liver and gallbladder. This is also helpful for clearing up chronic skin conditions.
Calendula flowers can be dried and then put in oils, balms and/or tinctures. Do not use if you are allergic to ragweeds. Do not take internally if you are pregnant, breastfeeding (safety is unknown) or taking prescription medications.
Here at T’s Tonics, we steep our farm harvested calendula flowers in pure organic oils without additives or scents for your sensitive skin in our Calendula Oil.
We also use our calendula in our Grab Salve Balm, Arnica Oil, Calendula Chaparral Repair Cream, Sun Beater Sunscreen and Anti-Itch Spray.
