Herbs for Circulation
Good circulation is vital for good health.
When our blood is flowing well throughout the body, it is carrying new oxygen into every cell and pulling old toxins out.
There is recent interest in thinning the blood and increasing circulation lately because of the rise in blood clot issues from the vaccine and C-virus.
However, our blood naturally thickens in winter time to help conserve heat so be careful thinning it too much.
Movement is one of the best blood pumper and rejuvenator there is, in my opinion.
But there are also herbs, spices and oils that can help our circulation and blood flow.
Here is a quick list of circulation helpers:
Herbs:
Bayberry, Black Cohosh, Cayenne, Chickweed, Horseradish, Hyssop, Hawthorn berries, Goldenseal root, Rosehips, Garlic, Ginger, Turmeric
Essential Oils:
Cypress, Basil, Marjoram, Peppermint, Wintergreen
Others helpers:
Green Tea, Magnesium, Gingko Biloba, Rutin, witch hazel
Super Tonic
We grew up with a recipe I knew as “Dr. Schultz’s SuperTonic”. It is also known as Fire Cider or Horseradish Vinegar and has a long history dating back to Medieval Europe.
I believe it has a lot of different names, some of them swear words.
After introducing it to my new neighbor and friend, she wrote about it in the Farm & Ranch Journal a while back. Thanks, Holly.
It is potent and spicy and should never be taken on an empty stomach. But all of the ingredients not only help your immune system– this will stop colds and viruses in their tracks.
They also help circulation and healthy blood flow among other benefits.
Fresh Super Tonic Recipe:
1 whole fresh ginger root
1 piece fresh horseradish
1 fresh red cayenne pepper
1 white onion
1 bulb garlic
my additions: fresh parsley, fresh turmeric root
apple cider vinegar
Throw all in the blender in amounts desired, cover with the apple cider vinegar and blend thoroughly. Store in labeled jar in the fridge all winter. And as my friend says, don’t confuse it with the applesauce!
We always took a tablespoon of this straight after dinner. It is amazing added to soups and meats (great meat tenderizer). I have also enjoyed a tablespoon added to sour cream as a dip with chips.
It is very effective at keeping you healthy and thriving! We did not “catch” the normal sniffles and flus that circulated in school.
Vein Support
Introducing our Vein Glory Spray!
We have combined circulation oils with our arnica tincture for supporting blood flow in the legs. This is a revitalizing spray that can help relieve pressure and pain and reduce varicose and spider veins.
It contains some of the circulation herbs and oils plus magnesium seen above.
I even love this on the back of my knees and on my ankles and legs after running or exercising.
What ever you incorporate into your day, increasing circulation will benefit now and long term. Enjoy living fully!
